Hi, good evening, this is my first post, don't really know what to say, my husband has metastic renal cancer.. Does any other spouse or person have the same experience, thanks in advance

  • Hi Perry , my husband was diagnosed in Sept'19 with an 18cm tumour on kidney and multiple large metastases on lungs and pleura . He started immunotherapy a few weeks later as hos kidney tumour was inoperable.  The immunotherapy worked well until August when things started to show some increase, he's starting a new treatment next Monday as growth has become rapid now .

It's a devastating diagnosis and takes a long time to get your head around . My husband is 55 , he deals with it all better than I do.

Theres lots of info on kcuk website about treatments etc x

  • Hi wcd and thank you for your reply and time.. Things moved really fast for us.. Diagnosed in late Sept, kidney removed in Oct in a 12 hr op.. Heart specialist told me the op wasn't done a day too soon as the cancer had spread right up the cena vina vein to the cusp of his heart and it was full of blood clots. He had 5 specialist in at his op.. And was on heart bypass for 428 mins.. Got told in Nov he was clear, but on going for a drug trial, got told cancer went into adrenal gland and lymph nodes so ruled that out, Derek was still in some pain but he thought it was because of the op.. Pushed him to go to docs who arranged an emergency ct scan.. Were told in January the cancer was in his pelvis in 3 places and his 10th rib and was aggressive and incurable, but it cld be managed.. Derek didn't ask any questions so I couldn't. It was only when he wanted to go bk to work I found out about the metastases renal cancer.. Derek sounds so much like your husband,, he doesn't speak about it, or wants to know the outcome, but I worry about it constantly,,I hope you are doing OK andyour husbands treatment goes well x
