Hi I am a 53 year olds female and had my left kidney removed in February
I went into hospital in December for suspected appendix and they found something on my kidney then. When I went back for my six week check it came back as stage three level 1 had not spread anywhere else and they managed to get it all
Because of the stage Of it I will be getting six monthly scans. First one in August. You never expect to go into hospital and come out with been told you have cancer
I am back exercising but still do get quite tired by the end of the week
the surgeon said that most kidney cancers are incidental finds
has been very interesting reading everyone’s stories
Hi Buttercup- Re:Painkillers-,yes I probably should take some & will see whether it helps today actually. I’m not a martyr, just never been one for tablets as it can mask issues too. But yes, worth a go.
Hi Fedupperson, - This was my journey but everyone’s is different. I’m also only 49/ good fitness & no previous issues that have ever required hospitalisation before. My husband has got a degree of disability but I’m lucky enough to say he’s wonderful in helping with what I need - if I didn’t have that it would be so much tougher as I have no family anywhere near & work miles away . Car journeys are the worst as I’ve felt every tiny road bump & use cushions under the seatbelt, but spend the journey tensing up so I’m knackered by the time we’ve been out ( I stay in the car - hubby goes out to shop!!).?
I know I’ve improved a tiny bit every day but it’s more obvious to hubby than me . I think the hardest part is that you leave hospital with no idea of what May feel normal or Not normal as you mend & I’m not sure who to ask as DRs appointments take days (+)…
Good Luck to everyone going through this journey. Life is so unkind at times, but I pray it’s just a bump in the road for most of you. X
