Hi I am a 53 year olds female and had my left kidney removed in February
I went into hospital in December for suspected appendix and they found something on my kidney then. When I went back for my six week check it came back as stage three level 1 had not spread anywhere else and they managed to get it all
Because of the stage Of it I will be getting six monthly scans. First one in August. You never expect to go into hospital and come out with been told you have cancer
I am back exercising but still do get quite tired by the end of the week
the surgeon said that most kidney cancers are incidental finds
has been very interesting reading everyone’s stories
Hello welcome to the kidney cancer group. I'm sorry you've now got to have 6: monthly scans but at least you know they'll b keeping a regular eye on you. I sstl have regular scans,,despite having my kidney out 16 :years ago.
Not surprised you get tired by the end of the week. Are you still working full time?
Hi Odele, i was diagnosed with Stage 3 kidney cancer 6 weeks ago & I’m 49 years old. I too am having my left kidney removed in 2 weeks . Not looking forward to the hospital stay - how long were you in for ? I’ know my options are not known until they can check what type of cancer it is but I’m hopeful for now as it doesn’t appear to have spread . Can I get an idea of your experience of it ? I’m positive generally but like to know what’s coming ! Stay safe,
hi ksj0450
i was in for 6 days it depends what type of operation you have
i had the sun roof cut across the stomach
the hardest part for me was getting in and out of bed in hospital also having the drain in when i got home that was in until it was less than 5mls 2 days consecutively
staples was removed after 10 days make sure the local nurses are aware when you get out as mine hadent been imformed
stay safe

Hi KSJO450
Also 49 had my right Kidney removed 2 weeks ago ,keyhole and open surgery I was in hospital for 2 nights 3 days went in Monday 9am home by 5 m on Wednesday .I think a lot of the quick recovery was down to having the spinal block painkiller injection before the surgery as haven't really been in any pain just discomfort all the best and keep positive any questions let me know .
Thanks Mick . Everyone’s journey is different, but at least I have an idea of what I’m in for !! Can’t wait to get it over with now ! Stay safe & I hope you’ve recovered well.
Hello Still_here, I’m glad you are ! That sounds positive- I’ll take whatever they give .... I hate pain , I’m a baby
KSJ...Wishing you all the best. Nothing wrong with not enjoying pain...doesn't make you a baby...makes you very normal I would think.

Hi@ksj0450 I agree totally with@fedupperson.No pint in being a martyr to pain.
Sue
Hi I was in hospital for 2 nights. Couldn’t move around properly for a couple of weeks. Just make sure you take your painkillers and have complete rest. Took me a good four weeks before I went back to work. Was hard to doing anything for six weeks. But now worth it, back to normal just get tired by the end of the week. You will be fine Good luck will be having six monthly scans for five years
Lovely to hear of all your speedy recoveries- using painkillers of course!
I was in hospital about 10;days way back in 2005, coz they wouldn't let me eat. Once I realized I felt rotten coz I'd not eaten, ( one of my foibles)I was up n away in no time!
