Hi, I live on my own and am feeling really down. I suppose the time of year doesn't help! I try to get out for a walk every day but just feel so tired. Have been told my partial nephrectomy and gall bladder removal will be in January but haven't got a date yet.
Any ideas on how to get myself feeling brighter will be gratefully received.

I have mine on jan 7th ive just been ignoring it and not thinking to much about it, hard not to at times but ive just been carrying on as normal, i have an infection where my tooth was removed on the 18th so sorting that has been on my mind mostly as if that hasnt cleared they will cancel my op, hope you find something to take your m8nd off it.
I had my partial nephrectomy in June. The anxiety was terrible in the build up to the op. I had reflexology to cope with this and a few sessions of hypnosis which helped too. I bought a book of adult colouring which largely went undone. Walking is good both before and after the op.
I tend to bang on about this "nest" thing, but after July 2013 after my job lot (All left kidney, splenectomy, adrenal glands, tip of pancreas) the line of thinking was "alright. Now what?" Didnt help that there were mets sitting on top of the liver. The brain cannot 'get' what is happening amid a whole new world of hurt.
I'll tell you a story. Just before my lung resection, in the waiting room was a lady who was in for a partial nephrectomy. She was of course -very- apprehensive. We talked a bit and then I was moved to a prep room.
Later, i popped my head in during visitor hours to her ward.
"That wasn't so bad was it?"
She blinked for a second or two. She was doing needlework of some kind
"No. I suppose not" she replied.
The NHS evening meal is a horror that nobody can help with, so I remained quiet on that subject. She did fine, as it turned out.
Also: Billy's Rule Number Two: Surround yourself before and after ops, scans etc. with all the things that you adore, whether that be, say, starting thst Agatha Christie full book collection for your library, reading up on bonsai trees ready to start or a Tapestry masterpiece. Focus your love on wonderful things such as these and build 'a nest' for yourself. Pets included. It really works.
Billy's Rule 1 is AVOID GOOGLE LIKE A SWARM OF IRRITABLE HORNETS. You'll be glad you did ignore it. An oncology paper from 2005 isnt in the least bit helpful to you.
