Last ct scan I got results in my NHS account and and instead of hospital appointment I got only a phone call whit nurse. Now I had my ct scan and nothing in my NHS account. I had my hospital appointment on Thursday this week. I wander if it’s something serious and maybe this time they want to see me face to face??? Or it’s only a delay or it’s because after this scan I move to one year scan????
I think you are worrying unnecessarily. I'm unclear when you had your CT scan - was it Thurs 11th? If so, you wouldn't expect the results until the following Thursday at best and perhaps up to 2 weeks later.
There are posts on here where the results have been not so good and people report they wanted them F2F with the opportunity to ask questions there-and-then. The NHS do not have the processes to share good results quickly and bad results by a different engagement method.
There is a bit of a shortage of radiologists - or there was about a year ago. One of mine took 6 weeks to deliver.
Also, you probably don't realise, but CT scans aren't like bloods, which are *just* processed and returned immediately. For scans, the radiologist has to sit down, take digital measurements and compare with the last measurements, and write a report of what's changed, or any observations they note. Then they send it back to the consultant requesting it. They then decide how to communicate results eg phone, appt. My onco requests the scan on w/c dd/mm/yy, requests results by 7 days later, and books an appt with me 2 weeks later. All of this is done after the last scan, so I know the timescales.
Hiya Megdrim. You'll find that admin is the worst in the NHS. And departments often don't work in tandom with each other. So scan results not appearing in your app shouldn't be a worry.
Getting a phone call from the nurse instead of oncologist is also OK. Remember they have a team the nurses work with your oncologist and they have meetings to discuss your results.
I am as close to my nurse as I am with my oncologist and can ask the nurse anything as well as tell her how I feel. Every conversation is shared between the team.
I hope this is helpful.
Hugs
Obviously it varies between hospitals because I have never seen my CT scan results online but usually have to see the consultant at the hospital or occasionally a scheduled phone call from a doctor. Try not to be too anxious or read too much into the situation, difficult I know! Best wishes.
