I have had a diagnosis of a RCC and I am really suffering from severe anxiety. I have my first appointment tomorrow to discuss the results of my CT scan, although I have already read it on my notes on line. I have to have a partial nephrectomy on my right kidney. The tumour is 2.9 cm. I had a heart attack and stent fitted last year and now this. I previously had a fatty liver but that is resolved. The tumour was picked up on my liver scan. I know I will have to stop my blood thinners etc for the operation and that also terrifies me. I am a bag of nerves. I know I can ask him things tomorrow but can anyone help with any words of support who have had similar. The more I read about it the more convinced I am going to die from secordary tumours.

Is that a typical incision for a single kidney removal or did you have other things done too?
Hi, I had a radical nephrectomy and also viens removed in the surrounding area due to spread.
Ok. So not the site of scarring Cilla would face even if it was open surgery.
I am sorry you had to go through such radical surgery.
Hello, just hopping back on the site after a busy day x So I had keyhole too and recovered fairly quickly. I had egg on toast not long after I returned to the ward….it is a big operation and so I was expecting worse.
My cancer was an unusual one it’s called a chromophobe cancer ( I have called it other names along the way)!! The good news for me was that this type is less likely to reoccur.
I am having a scan a year after I had the op. I also have a complex cyst on the other kidney which needs to be kept under surveillance
I am not currently receiving any treatment. They tend to use immunotherapy rather than chemo for renal cancer, this treatment uses your own immune system boosted by the treatment to fight the cancer. Some members have had very good results with this.
I am soo pleased that your appointment went so well,I am sure that you will feel better to be out of limbo.
Don’t be afraid to keep posting and hopefully one of us will be able to help.
Big hugs Jules xx
