Just had more bad news

Last August I had my left kidney removed and felt lucky as I was told the cancer hadn't spread.

Just recently had my first 6 monthly scan and results and the results weren't good as there is now signs of cancer in both lungs.  I was told that the secondary cancer must have been there before my operation.

As you can imagine it has been a bit of a shock.  Now have to wait to see an Oncologist to find out what treatment they can offer.

Luckily I have good family and friends who I can chat too and will be starting counselling today after a 5 month wait.

Will  try and take each day as it comes and make the best of it.  At least the sun has started to shine again which cheers us all up.

Take care everybody

Betty

  • Hi Betty

Well done for being positive. I had a tumour and kidney removed in 2019. Afterwards they said there was some cancer left in my pancreas and small amount in lungs. I have had 2 years of immunotherapy and the cancer is currently stable. And as you say the sun is shining.

Enjoy each day and good luck with future treatment.

    All the best L

  • Thanks for replying so quickly.  Good to know that you are doing well on your immunotherapy treatment.  It helps to discuss how we feel with others going through similar experiences.

    Take care

Hi Betty, oh what bad news, on the better side they have found it and treatment can start. I wish they had discovered my others. Still that's for me and doesn't help you! I know it'ts a cliche, which drives me round the bend, but...."stay positive", the're new treatments all the time as well as the brilliant old stuff. You're right about the sun tho' it's shining in my part of the world.... Essex  by the way not as my name tag would suggest! Regards Adrian

  • Thanks Adrian for replying.  Still trying to digest the bad news but keeping busy helps.

    Take care

Hello Lynsired, l saw from your post that you are being treated by immunotherapy. I have just finishex, in Jan 8 cycles of chemo for kidney cancer etc and my encologist has indicated immunotherapy as the next stage. Are you able to give me any info. Forwarned is forarmed. Thanks. Adrian

  • Hi Adrian I was given Nivolumab for 2 years finished In January. I was lucky and had only minor side effects and it reduced my cancer which has stayed stable since. I would happily do another course of immunotherapy if I needed it.

Side effects include tiredness and occasional upset stomach but transient and minor.
I think you said you are in Essex-me too!

Good luck with the immunotherapy and if you have any other questions please ask.

    Stay strong and mighty

Thank you for your immediate response, as an Essexernite l am being treated at Southend Hsp. Pretty good so far but you do realise after a while ( well l did) that we are nothing special but one of many suffering and not only our illness. But on the bright side l am looking from my front room at an actual Essex Hill. Yes they do exist, AND  the sun is still shining. Thank you again for your positive reply. Adrian
