After 5 months so far on immunotherapy and Axitinib my husband is much better and is in talks with his employers about returning to work.
His treatment is ongoing and he is experiencing the usual side effects but is coping well with them on the whole.
Has anyone else returned to full time work while on this treatment? How did you get on?
Gigi
Hi Gigi, "Suffolkflyer" here, l cannot share "returning to work" experience as l am retired. However, l am a martyr for good news and it's good for your husband, and for you as well. I shall read any further news with anticipation and delight.
Hi there, thank you for your kind words. It is good news, absolutely, and will give him something else to think about other than his illness.
Hopefully it will all go well.
Gigi.
I have continue to work throughout. I do feel that I am lucky as I can work from home. I do not think I would have enough energy if I was commuting every day. I am on Immunotherapy and targeted therapy. I have found it has helped as I have something to do - i am not ready to give up work although know at some point I will need to.
My employers are really good - the main challenge I have found is perhaps who to tell - you are disappearing a lot for treatment and appointments and so i found just saying you will not tell people is not realistic, but equally i did not want it to be common knowledge - difficult balancing act.
Hi gigi , my husband returned to work while on immunotherapy (nivolumab) , he works in a large supermarket. He managed well on reduced hours , his management were great but when his treatment stopped working and he started on a tki he had to stop working due to side affects. He does hope to return to work soon now he's getting more used to them . Your husband should try and see how he feels , mentally my husband needed to go to work to feel normal . I really hope it works out for your husband xx
