Hello all, I'm about to have my 11cm mass removed via an open nephrectomy and the hospital suggests packing 'day wear'. Did you pack loose joggers? I can't envisage where the scar will be. Trying to control the things I can control!
I actually bought a couple of cheap loose nighties which I wore in hospital. The reason for this is i had a catheter in and was more comfortable than when wearing pyjamas. The scar I had was tiny, about 6 - 7 cm, done by robot and wasn't sore. Main discomfort for me was trapped wind, but I just walked up and down ward to get it moving. When I came home I bought some amazing leggings off amazon that have a very broad deep waist. No elastic...so comfy. But the wound is below waist line so not a problem. Hope this is helpful..hugs and
I recommend easy slip-on shoes and no socks so that you don’t have to bend to put them on.
Hi Mavis72
i took loose joggers when i had my nephrectomy but ended up just wearing a hospital gown as having a catheter didn’t work well with the joggers. I had a 20cm growth on my right kidney. The scar started immediately under the sternum and finished at the point where the pelvis starts. The scar was about 20cm. Hope this helps.
