Hi I’m sue and new to this group I got diagnosed with grade 2 kidney cancer recently it’s 5.4 cm sitting at the top of my left kidney I’m so confused they’ve offered me partial nephrectomy with open surgery or full removal with keyhole . I’m 58 and and feel I’m fit enough for full removal but so scared I might end up with kidney disease with just one kidney . As far as I know other than the lump that was found incidentally I don’t have any other symptoms other than my blood pressure has been a little high so been on tablets for about 6 years ….. HELP don’t know what op to do ….. they also said I can referred to London to see if a surgeon can do partial by keyhole but not sure I should wait . My gut feeling is to say get rid of the cancer along with the whole kidney to be sure it’s gone !
Hi sue my name is Craig I had my kidney removed 4 years ago with a 14 cm tumour attached to it couldn’t do keyhole because of the size of the tumour unfortunately 3 weeks ago they found another tumour 4cm on my remaining kidney I go and see the consultant tomorrow but still would of had the whole kidney removed even though it’s come back just keep thinking positive sue and good luck and god bless
