Oncology appointment

So it turns out my mum has metastatic bladder cancer. She is to have combined immunotherapy and a targeted drug. It’s a new drug that was a trial to begin with but got approved because of the good results so hopefully that’ll be the case for my mum xx

So not kidney cancer after all?

Treatment are really getting better so fingers crossed your mum will feel better.

Hi just checking in and to see how you’re dad is doing x

Hello,

we’ve had a really really hard time of it recently :( 

he was on a drug called Cabozantinib, and he really declined after taking it for about 10 weeks.

At the end of August he was doing better and ate a bit more then at end of Sept (last week) he really went down hill. He’s been admitted to hospital, is very weak and fatigued, very breathless. He was put on some drips to get some fluids into him but sadly his kidneys still aren’t working. He’s still in hospital and it’s really hard, he’s deteriorating. He had a CT scan and although some of the cancer mestases in the lung and lymph node got better, the cancer has spread to his bones and liver. They’re worried about his hip breaking due to the cancer in it.

im also running the London marathon next year, and while they haven’t said how long he may have, they said they weren’t sure if he’d be here to see me do it. 

they’re seeing if there is anything they can to help his kidneys but they’ve also mentioned palliative care. So just got to wait and see, it’s really hard.

So sorry to hear this. We’re in the same position unfortunately. She’s extremely poorly and we don’t think she has long left. She isn’t in hospital because she wants to be at home. She’s very rarely awake anymore and hasn’t eaten in the last 2 days and when she was eating it was very little. We’re all struggling to watch this,  she’s not my mum anymore and it’s heartbreaking. I’m here if you want someone to talk to as I know exactly what you’re going through and how you’re feeling. Try and stay strong and take care of yourself ( easier said than done I know) xx

Aw I’m so so sorry :( yeah same here, Dad wants to come home but his kidneys aren’t functioning, so we need to get things set up at home to help him be at home. It is really really hard to see isn’t it :( are we allowed to contact each other privately does anyone know? I’d take a lot of comfort in that x
