Hi I had a Right kidney removed in December due to a 15cm tumour on it, I had my 6 month CT scan in June & unfortunately the cancer has spread to my right lung, I’m about to start immunotherapy (Ipilmumab & Nivolumab) soon has anyone on here had experience of taking these drugs ?

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I haven't had these drugs but I noticed that your post hasn't had any replies yet.

If you type 'ipilmumab and nivolumab' into the search bar at the top of the screen you'll find lots of previous discussions about this combination of drugs. You could have a read through some of them and reply to any of the more recent posters if you think they may be able to help you further.

Wishing you all the best with your treatment and do come back and let us know how you get on.

  • Hi Phil

i have primary kidney and lung cancer and had this in the hope it would treat both. For the short while I had it it worked well on the kidney and slightly on the lung but then it was stopped as kidney function declinef, i then went on to chemo solely for lung. I would have liked to continue with it as I felt it worked. Good luck with it

    Hi Phil M,

I had this treatment a couple of years ago - treatment lasted for about 4 months until I had one too many side effects and was no longer Eligible. The good news is that once the side effects eventually settled down, the effects of treatment kept working and shrinking my cancers for around 15 months!

I wish you well with your treatment!

  • Thanks for your reply, it’s nice to know that I’m not the only one going through this

  • Thanks for your reply, it’s all new to me & a lot of information to digest

  • It certainly is Phil but it does get easier. Take care
