Hi , diagnosed last summer with stage 2B classic Hodgkin disease . I had 6 months of chemo followed by radiotherapy and was told I was in remission. Waiting for 3 monthly check up and I worry it’s come back as I have started sweating excessively during the day . Dreading my appointment to be told I have to go through chemo again.

  • Hi  and welcome to this corner of the Community although always sorry to see folks joining us. I am Mike  and I help out around our lymphoma groups.

I don’t have HL but was diagnosed way back in 1999 with a rare incurable but treatable type of skin Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 4a and although my Lymphoma ‘type’ is different I have experienced most types of treatments used but not necessarily the exact same drug mix.

I have had multiple relapses over my first 16 years with multiple treatments all resulting in eventually achieving remission for the first time time 17 years back in Sep 2016.

Actually I never had any sweats then about 2 years after I was in remission I had them….. mind went into overdrive, I called my team, I was taken in and checked out and nothing was found “Mike, remember your body goes through a lot over your treatments things like this can happen” That was 3 years ago and it all came ok.

My advise is call your clinical team if you can or talk with your GP.

Always around to listen and support.

Thank you for your reply. I will hopefully find out more during my appointment this week but I wish I could stop going into the worst case scenario every time something different happens. I think I’ve prepared myself to hear it’s returned but it will be such a relief if it hasn’t !

  • You are only 9-10 months post treatment and your body is still working out what hit it last year and finding its new normal.

You will obviously be stressed leading up to your 3 month review….. stress can make this happen but let’s see what your consultant says and take it from there.
