Hello, I’m halfway through my ABVD treatment for Hodgkin’s  lymphoma and I still have some hair left but it’s VERY thin now! Can anyone recommend a good shampoo to use please as my normal shampoo for coloured hair is doing nothing for my lack lustre hair now. Thank you!

  • Hi again Suzanne , as I said in your other post, my hair did not stick around long enough to have to worry about shampoo but let’s see if any member can help you out.

You could also put up a question to our Nurse Team in our Ask an Expert section but do allow a few working days for a reply.

  • I’m using Champo shampoo and conditioner and also the hair oil. It’s not cheap but it does seem to be working. Just Google it and it will come up

  • I've been using Philip Kingsley no scent, no colour shampoo..anything else made me have really bad dandruff as my scalp had become very sensitive.

I also shaved my hair to around an inch long, i think this helped me maintain the hair on my head as it was not soo heavy when wet and did not need to be brushed - not sure if that helped with maintaining any hair/preventing hair loss, but I have just finished abvd chemo (treatment 12 was on Tuesday) and still have a full head, albeit it is thin and falls out on the pillows etc, but no one would know...

  • Ooh, thank you! Will look up the shampoo. And congratulations on getting to the end (once you’re through the after effects of this round)! Must be such a good feeling. 5 more to go for me as I feels like such a long road ahead still!
a pixie cut may also be on the cards I feel. I just wish my ears weren’t so big!!
Thanks for your help and good luck with your recovery. Blush

  • Ooh, amazing. Thanks Cattie. This looks really good too. I wasn’t sure if you could use growth products whilst undergoing chemo but it sounds like you can so I may try this too! Thank you.
