Hi everyone. My husband has relapsed Hodgkins stage 3. He was in remission just over 3 years ago. Post his first treatment he also was diagnosed with heart disease and has stents. Hes also type 2 diabetic. His heart struggles have really hindered health. Before they start chemo hes having to have Angiogram again and they arent sure yet what his heart can take.
Has anyone else beein this situation? What treatment did you have? How was it? Any advice appreciated!

  • Hi again  and sorry to hear that your husbands Hodgkin’s has relapsed. I don’t know all the treatments for HL well, but often salvage treatment could be used aiming towards an Auto (Own Stem Cells) Stem Cell Transplant (SCT)

Having been through two Allo (donor) SCTs there are inherent challenges when it comes to existing health conditions. With Lung, Kidney and Heart problems being rather high up the ‘Risk’ list.

I actually have asbestosis so have reduced lung function so  this was looked at closely, in the end, as my prognosis was poor we went for SCT and rolled the dice. I have been in remission since 2016 but have been left with a very fragile immune system so infections and hospital stays have been part of life, I also have been gifted AFib due to the final chemo so my heart is being monitored regularly.

I do hope that a route can be found to treat him ((hugs))
