Hi , not sure where to go with this . I’m 5 years out of treatment, and I think I may have PTSD.  Would this be a thing so late ?  I’m awake for hours most nights ,have major anxiety attacks, feel extremely detached and emotionally dead   Anyone else experience this?

  • I think you are probably correct in your assessment.  Things like that can hit us at any time and not always consistently or showing the same symptoms.  I would have a chat with your GP and see what help they can put you in touch with.  Unfortunately Macmillan used to have such a service but closed it down a year or so back.  Crazy idea when so many of us probably need a little help from time to time in order to cope with the trauma we have been through and (often) the anxiety of what may lay ahead of us in life.

  • Yes, unfortunately PTSD is a fact of life for many of us...it can hit at any time, I finished CRT 3 years ago and have had regular episodes, I try to keep occupied, gardening, cycling, sports, binging on TV boxed sets, Tai Chi helps... sleep patterns suffer...I have had some short courses of Zopiclone to help with sleep...I also take Magnesium Glycinate...my GP OK'd it... PTSD? part of our 'new normal' ?

  • When my sister passed away from brain cancer I developed what I'm certain was PTSD....I'd have flash backs ,panic attacks,I also couldn't sleep and developed chronic insomnia that even after six ars is still an issue....I also ended up developing  health anxiety where every single little ailment is insist on seeing my GP ,convinced that if I didn't then they'd miss something serious and d die too,I also developed physical symptoms of serious conditions but again it was physcosymetic....I tried counselling via sue Ryder online support but found that triggered things ....six years on things are a lot better ....time has helped.️
