Been for my biopsy

I had an appointment at the hospital this morning to have 2 teeth extracted and to remove a dental abscess.  I was also due for a bone biopsy to determine the extent of my ORN.  I saw 2 senior MaxFac consultants who were both of the opinion that the swelling on my jaw is not a dental abscess, but is now presenting as a suspected cancerous tumour.  So the planned procedure was cancelled and instead I had some punch biopsies taken from various parts of the swelling.  I will have the results within 2 weeks.  I'll also be getting appointments for a MRI scan and a CT scan of the head, neck and chest.  I now have a 2WW code on my records to show I'm officially on a fast track suspected cancer diagnosis pathway.

I'm not surprised, I've been saying for weeks now that I thought the lump was cancer.  The only good news is that I've now finished my 28 day course of Doxycycline and nothing else has been prescribed.  So as soon as the biopsy sites have healed I will be able to have a glass of wine!

  • Oh B****r! At least things are moving fast. Hugs.

  • Thanks for the hugs Dani, much appreciated.  Things are certainly moving fast, just had a phone call booking my CT scan for tomorrow afternoon.

  • So sorry to hear this. There aren't many scenarios where a dental abscess is preferable! I'm glad you've got such a fast  appointment for your CT scan. Fingers crossed for you. I hope you can soon have that Wine glass!
