So,I finally had a hearing test, and to be quite honest, I can't wait for my new hearing aids to arrive.. onwards and upwards..

  • New normal...Tinnitus is beginning to annoy me, its been ongoing for a couple of years now, Cisplatin related?  may have to bite the bullet and report it to oncology and my GP.

  • Hi Loz

I have cochlear damage on the RT side. I tried expensive private hearing aids and they were brilliant. I waited two years for NHS ones and they are carp! I shall have to save my pennies.

  • I'm in for one tomorrow followed by a CT Head.  They think the RT has damaged my middle ear...

Hope so.Mine is sensorineural loss. Peter's sounds like a conductive one if his middle ear is affected. One thing my private audiologist noticed was that the little hairs in my ear canal on that side have been obliterated

  • 4 weeks after treatment I got a set of hearing aids . I knew I needed to get some before treatment but after treatment it felt like I had a bucket of water over my head. I cried when I could finally hear again. I have the Phonac I90 which I’m upgrading to the new I90 spheres which  eliminate background noise better

  • Could be. I was told it plays havoc with our hearing. I live with it and hearing aids has improved it

  • It’s worth getting good ones. Cost a lot but you’ll be so glad you got them
