Hi I have had treatment for hpv throat neck cancer finished treatment radiotherapy 2 chemo October 2024 , my taste is still barely there and wondering if anyone has the same issues or if there is anything that might encourage it to come back

  • I would think that most who have had CRT/RT treatment will experience taste and appetite issues, took 9-12 months for my taste to really improve, 2 years out and I'm quite happy with where I am taste wise, some things are still off limits.

Experimenting with different types of food and drink should help.

  • Yes, it can take a good while before you get your taste back and start to enjoy food again, food tasted awful to me for up to about 18 months improving bit by bit during that time, after approx 2 years my taste had returned to almost back to normal. Although even now over 7 years post treatment there are occasions when things taste different to how they should.
