They got my pathology results back. Margin is now clear, 38 lymph nodes were removed (only one cancerous one,) Next is 6 weeks radiotherapy 5 days a week, PEG fitted and then possible 5 weeks chemotherapy, scared stiff!

Pre-Treatment Assessment tomorrow,
Usually the basics.
Blood test, ecg, dental assessment plus introduction to dietician and speech and language
Anything else is a bonus. It depends in time. As Hazel said some units have open days when you can look round the Radiotherapy and chemotherapy suites.
I didn’t.

dental assessment
Thanks Dani, my dental assessment is booked for Tuesday 22nd, so maybe all the other things mentioned? When do they tell you when you are going to start treatment? I have so many questions that I think to ask here that I forget completely to ask them at the time . . . my mind goes blank. I really don't know what I would have done without you all on here.
Thank you so much.
Hugs

Hi Hazel my treatment started within 10 days of mask being g made. It depends on radiotherapy machine availabllity. I was at Leeds cancer centre they had 12 machines which were in consent use 0830 -1900 Monday to Friday with occasional eeejrnd use.

What a great idea! I never thought of that. Thank you Hazel x
When do they tell you when you are going to start treatment?
I asked after diagnosis when I signed consent form for treatment Was told around six weeks from planning scan.I had my planning s can at mask making. Some people have the mask made and have to return for the scan. It depends on capacity. The planning is hugely speeded up by AI but Linac access is limited

Exactly what I do. I have a preformatted sheet I use and I keep a running record from appointment to appointment of how things are going - better, worse or the same. Helps me and my consiultant. My oncologist like the idea so much he asked for my form so he could copy it
I was told the same time frame when I initially saw my oncologist. Was called the next day for mask fitting and started 15 days later and during that time we had Christmas and the New Year. No time to think!!
