Hi Everyone
I've now been on sick 6 months and naturally my sick pay has come to an end.
I'm about to start radiotherapy soon but have no choice but to return to work and work round my daily sessions.
I live alone and there's nobody who could support me and ESA isn't an option as I couldn't go without money for nearly 3 months as this is the current waiting time for new claims.
Has anyone managed to work whilst having daily sessions?
I'm panicking as I don't know what else I can do to support myself financially.
I know it's all confusing but new ESA claims don't exist anymore, you have to apply for UC. The new style ESA claim they refer to is LWC which I would most likely get but I would have needed to apply 3 months ago to get payment once my SSP ended. I didn't think I'd still be in sick! So the option is wait 3 months on no money till the claim is assessed or return phased to work and get essentially more money immediately. Benefits are a nightmare!
This still takes 3 months to be assessed by which time I would expect to be back at work on phased return
Samantha, do take a proper look at this. If you are having 6 weeks radiotherapy you are not going to be well enough to work 6 weeks after it finishes. As a rule folk here start their phased return around the six months. I’m not saying it’s impossible but RT knocks the hell out of you
