Hi all, I just thought I would update you as everyone has been extremely helpful putting my mind at ease in this new journey we find ourself in.
So after hubby's tonsillectomy, 6 days later being admitted in hospital with a bleedout and infection, he spent 2 days in on IV antibiotics and stronger painkillers, then home feeling much better.
Today we had a meeting with his consultant and care team, and what an amazing team they are. Good news that they managed to remove the cancer from his tonsil and hasn't spread to his tongue which we feared, only his lymph node in his neck where we first found the lump in July.
Appointment on the 9th Nov to do the mask fitting, then radiotherapy and chemotherapy for 6 weeks, once the mask is ready which take 3/4 weeks. The consultant seemed extremely positive that he will make a full recovery after treatment.
I explained to the care team that I came across this group and they couldn't speak more highly of it and thanked you all for advising me to leave Google well alone, giving me great support and allowing me to hear your stories.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks again!

Hazel,
Wow thanks for the link to the video, that's fascinating, your blog is also extremely helpful. Will definitely tell him about the eye holes, we wouldn't have even known it was an option.
All the best x
Thanks Dani,
It really was a tough time last week, but the difference in him after a few days in hospital is remarkable.
Brilliant advise on the mask thankyou I'll pass it on to him. The next step it going to be tough but like you say its doable. Thanks for the great advice once again, all a massive help. I'm.sure I'll be back for more advice once treatment has started.
All the best x

Oh interesting, it's definitely worth asking if it will help him feel less claustrophobic. I imagine writing your blog really helped and gave you something else to focus on. My husband is finding it helpfull with all that I'm learning from you guys but wants to stay away from looking into it himself at the minute, he's leaving it to me. Its helped us understand the process everything he has to face going forward. Your all amazing x
Hi no we’re not we just had to do it ! He will get there. Many guys don’t come in here but their wife’s do. Saying that we do have our regular guys.
Any questions just ask. Tell them about the claustrophobic feelings they more info the radiotherapy teams have the more they can help. As my blog says I took my own music in plus my head went on bike rides and walks to pass the time.

Like Hazel says we aren’t amazing. We had no choice. What I do find amazing is how so many people rather than leaving their cancers behind stay to hold others’ hands. This community is really something to celebrate. And Macmillan has lots of various professional resources to help too.
