Hi One and All
Dropped by yesterday to check out what has been happening in the forum and to post an update on hubby's progress. This was started but not completed due to a totally unexpected trip to A&E for a 4½ hour stay (not including the 2 hr travel time). Both very tired (aka Knackered) today. Reason for trip - RIG balloon failure and tube displacement. All sorted now so will continue with the update I was gonna post.
Sunday 13th June was the second anniversary of hubby's initial diagnosis of head & neck cancer - confirmed by biopsy that day. Lots of ups and downs, highs and very deep lows along the way but he is still here, battling on.
Sadly his cancer is now classed as incurable but he is on a clinical trial through Christie's hospital receiving an Immunotherapy drug once every 3 weeks and is having daily treatment at home with either a Placebo/ or another Immunotherapy drug, which is administered via the Balloon Rig.
He is 'holding his own' in terms of being able to live without debilitating side effects although he gets tired very quickly when he undertakes physical activities.
We are trying to work through his bucket list although like so many others in this position the pandemic has interfered considerably with this but we are plodding on as best as possible, with personal safety considerations always in mind.
So we are still here, still battling on. We have a scan coming up at the end of next week and are hoping that it shows at least a slowing of growth in his tumours.
Hope that everyone else keeps dodging the virus during these unprecedented times.
Best Wishes to All
Margaret
