Hi everyone thought I would introduce myself as I've just joined (late to the party and apologises now for my spelling!!) I am a very positive person and have to find a joke in everything (much to the annoyance of the surgeons).
I was diagnosed on 31st January with cancer and at the time it was either lymphoma or Squamous Cell Carcinoma. On 3rd February it was confirmed as a SCC of my right cheek. I had surgery on 17th February which lasted 13.5 hours to remove the tumor.
I had a meeting with my MDT yesterday where results confirmed my SCC is stage 4 due to the aggressive nature of the tumor. A positive take is that it had not spread to my lymph nodes.
Right now I'm waiting for radiotherapy. Is there any advice anyone can offer with how to best prepare for this please?
Thank you.

Hi Carper
A welcome from me. Read Loz’s thread. It’s jolly useful. Then come back here with any questions you might have
It would be useful if you could put up a brief synopsis in your profile too.

Hi welcome from me. Read Loz piece it’s comprehensive. Best advise keep off dr google take treatment one day at a time. I’m a wimp but I did 35 sessions.
any questions just ask. If in pain don’t brave it our painkillers are there for a reason. If you have opiates remember you’ll need laxido or movicol as you do get constipated.

Hi Hazel,
Thank you for your message.
I was told from day 1 by the doctor to stay clear of google which I have done as I know what it can be like! I have read the link from Loz and your right it's so comprehensive.
I'm a very positive person and it does take a lot to get me down so hopefully I can keep this going through radiotherapy and try and annoy the guys there !
Thanks again,
Simon
