I’m not getting satisfactory answers from the drs.
has anyone had this? My husband completed ,chemo and radiation last month. We are waiting now for pet scan in April. The unknown primary is worrying me. Drs say it has to be in the oropharynx are but even having the tonsillectomy, nothing was found. now thanks to this treatment he has no taste so he is only drinking boost. I want him well and am so worried I hope I can get some reassurance.
before he began treatment they did another ct now he has a 2-3 mm lung nodule. I cannot live w this worry. They will check that at his pet scan in April.
Then it’s almost certain they got all the cancer
I know it’s hard but it’s now a waiting game.

Because of the unknown primary they did chemo also.
Yes that but also lymph node involvement usually calls for chemotherapy too.

You just have to wait. There’s nothing to be done till you have results on the next scan. I guess the doctors can’t tell you what they themselves don’t know

They say too soon to ck because it’s only 2-3 mm plus the scan will only show inflammation because the treatments are still working in his body.
Yes PET can’t differentiate very well between cancer and inflammation I had a hotspot at original cancer site.
2-3mm is too small to biopsy too

My cancer was never staged. At least I never knew what the stage was. I have an unusual pathway.
I never smoked and I was HPV+ with a tumor eventually making an appearance in my base of tongue. Prior to that they had investigated tonsils and nasal passages.
I’m just worried because he was a smoker when diagnosed. He slipped a few times during treatment.
