Took about 4 months for taste to start returning....6 months for it to be anywhere near acceptable to my palate....now 20 months on from finish of CRT it is about 90% as is my appetite....
Primary sites of tonsil and some other head and neck cancers are notoriously hard to find...
Why can’t they find primary?
Because it is so small the tissue they have sampled has missed it

Hi unknown primary isn’t uncommon often the primary cancer burns it’s self away is easiest way to explain. Or as Dani says it’s tiny and scan doesn’t pick it up. Remember hpv driven cancers respond well to treatment. The chemo radiotherapy deal with what’s left
. As for taste different. Reckon a good 6 months some are longer some shorter. I took the attitude food was fuel and got my head down and ate to live not derived. Any pleasure. It was all about getting calories in. Are you peg feeding ? My ng tube was my lifeline throughout treatment. U started to swallow orally from week 3 recovery the ensure drinks. Again everyone is different.

CRT is chemo radiotherapy. Taste takes time as the treatment is intensive and burns a delicate area of our bodies our mouths and throat it takes time. There’s no quick fix but it will return just takes time.
