Hi all, I would like some help and advice regarding stage 1 tongue cancer. I had an operation for this in December 2022 and unfortunately it returned this April 2024. I’ve since had another operation 3 weeks ago and the results showed a margin of 3mm and apparently it should be over 5mm. The surgeon has suggested another operation very soon, which I find very daunting as my tongue is not healed yet. Can anyone give any advice please?

I can’t help with the surgery as mine was inoperable and I had to go straight to RT but to be honest I’d go with what my surgeon told me. Is there any point in waiting for a surgical wound to heal if there may still be cancer cells there. Quick surgery must surely be your best shot.
