Hi Everyone.

My Name is Rich and my wife Claudia was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer a few weeks ago which they fear may be advanced.

We have had the dental and PET scan and today is the day of the MDT meeting to discuss results and hopefully a treatment plan.

I feel completely lost and can't concentrate on anything.

Our Macmillan nurse has said she will call us after the meeting to update us on things.

Claudia is Romanian and although her English is very good i think she gets lost on a lot of the medical terminology she the nurse has been mainly liaising with me.

This day couldn't go any slower if it tried.

Anyway thought I would say hello as nobody better to ask for advice then those who have gone through it.

  • Hello to the pair of you and welcome to our group.  The time from diagnosis up to treatment plan is a terrible waiting game.  Once your wife has the plan it will be easier as you have something to focus on.

As you get to know more about what is going to happen feel free to ask any questions of the group.  Most of us have tongue/tonsil cancer but the issues will be broadly similar.  My uncle had nasopharyngeal cancer, but I don't know a lot about his treatment.

  • Hi Rich and Claudia, welcome to the group from me. It's good you have found us, as we are all here to help if we can.You will both feel better about it all when you get her treatment plan. Any questions you have just ask, someone will always answer if they can.

  • Hi welcome from me. The waiting is the worst part it’s the fear if the u known. During my treatment I met Neil he had nasopharyngeal cancer and we became good friends my hubby and his wife Jo used to swop notes about us the ( patients . Neil got the same result asi did after treatment we both had no evidence of disease and now 5 years in we still meet uo for a meal every now and then. The treatments hard I can’t lie but there’s a good chance of a great life afterwards.
