Hi Botch69
How can we help?. Most of us here are experts in oral radiotherapy being at the receiving end.

Hi . Mine was a tumour on side of my tongue. I've had hemi glossectomy and reconstruction. Now on week four of chemoradiotherepy. My mouth is disgusting and really getting me down . I'm constantly gagging and so sore. Struggling to sleep with the constant dribble and cough. Any help would be welcome .
Hi
I didn’t have surgery but I can vouch for how awful radiotherapy is. I kept my mouth as clean as I could with soda bic/salt mouthwash and used every bit of analgesia I could get away with. Morphine and paracetamol plus Caphosol and Difflam. I spat a lot and had kitchennroll to hand every where. By mid week 4 I was on nasogastric tube feeding for 8 weeks.
Most of us here have had throat cancer
There is a really useful organisation called young tongues.

It would be worth having a look there. They have a very active social media group full of people like you who have had a glossectomy
Best wishes

Hi Imhad 35 radiotherapy and 2 chemo I had a humidifier in the bedroom which helped with the dry air and made sleeping easier. I also had a nebuliser the hospital, gave me that, the humidifier I bought on Amazon. It does get better but watch out for first few weeks of recovery it can stick around a while. Keep on top,of,pain meds make sure you’re drinking and keeping nutrition up. I was ng tube fed for 6 weeks in total.
Also keep on top of pain meds.
