Hi All

Was diagnosed with a tumour of the larynx on the 17th have had ct scan mri and a biopsy on the 23rd which havent had the results for yet has been a very scary time for me but am trying to take every day as it comes have been told i need an ultrasound in the new year

Have been on this site for a few days and it so nice that people take time to advise others who are just starting on this road and have taken heed not to google did a few times and really scared me so only come here for advice as it has helped me so much as prediagnosis is so hard.

Many Thanks

  • Think we all felt like you do at this point as you always think the worst, luckily with mine it during lockdown so everything happened so quickly that at times I was on a roller coaster of appointments tests and then final option, I thin the final 2 weeks prior to the op was the worst but once it happened I seemed relieved.

This time round with my latest diagnosis of Oesopheageal cancer I was like you as it was such a shock and the amount of investigations etc seems to go on and on but at least I have now started in a way with having my first chemo and my second next week, but as you are very apprehensive about the RT when that starts even though they say it is going to be very low dose

Keep in there and as evryone has said once you get the treatment plan hopefully everything will become clearer

  • Hello All

Been to the hospital today for an ultrasound and they found a lump on my neck and did a biopsy.

Am having some really bad thoughts know i shouldnt but the anxiety is getting a bit worse

    Hope everyone ok

    Many Thanks

    Chris

  • Hi Chris

Try not to let the lump on your neck worry you too much at this point.  A lump in the neck is often the first symptom that people find with head and neck cancer.  The lymph nodes in that area pick up infection and try to deal with it, hence the swelling.  Your team have obviously found it and will be taking it into account when planning the appropriate treatment for you.

  • Hi Chris The lump in the neck was the thing that alerted me , we have a lot if lymph nodes  in our neck.Yiur team will factor everything into your treatment plant. By the time my treatment started I had 7 effected lymph nodes.

Linda is right. They will either remove the node or target radiotherapy at it if there is cancer there. The clinicians are good at what they do
