Hello
Today I was told I had cancer in my lymph node, and this is head and neck cancer. I am terrified. I am waiting for a date for a MRI and PET scan, so don’t know what type of cancer I have.
Hi Dani
I am one week after my operation, and hell am I in pain. I didn’t want to take the morphine but I’ve no choice. Forcing myself to eat things like cornflakes too scrape my tonsils, but it’s hard going. How long does this pain last :( waitning for my results from the lab to see what treatment I am going to need. Your advice is right do not google . Listen to people on here x
Oh poor Debbie. Tonsillectomy pain is the pits in adults. I think another week will see you much improved. Just take the pain killers.....that's what they are for. Paracetamol is much maligned but it works well. Take that in between your morphine doses. Or you could ask your GP for prescription only cocodomol.

Hi Debbie,
I'm no medical expert but if you follow similar pattern as I did in Jan then you're around peak pain now and it will drop off in next few days. I chewed down some crushed ice before eating at this stage helped a lot. Meant I could manage toast and cereals to help clear the healing away.
Take care, Ronnie
Hi Debbie
As others have said and some of us know - it hurts! It is probably the scabs, from where they removed the tonsils, starting to detach. I promise you that by day 10 it will get better and probably by day 14 you will be wondering what all the fuss was about. Just start a countdown chart and you'll soon be there and fit for any further treatment you may need.
Hi Debbie as everyone says take the pain killer. Keep off cornflakes too scratchy. You can try soluble aspirin for gargling then spit out it csn give some in between relief. Try kids ice pops . Smoothies with added protein powder if you’re loosing weight csn help make with crushed ice as well. I was prescribed codeine.
It will ease. Keep us in loop when you get your results.
