I’m still here, worrying about a delay to surgery dates. Diagnosis was 4 Dec. Confirmed on 22 Dec over phone by clinical nurse specialist they would do surgery. This was confirmed face to face by consultants on 29 Dec. Which of these dates would be the decision to treat?
thanks!

  • When did your husband sign consent form for treatment. That is the start of the putative 31days.

It's a target often not met but try not to worry. This cancer is very curable. I waited six weeks from being given my treatment plan and signing consent forms but I found the cancer a good 12 weeks before that.

  • Thank you. It was October we first went to doctor and were put in the urgent cancer pathway so feels so slow. He is going to ring CNS tomorrow

  • Wishing you and your husband good luck.

I had my 3-year review today with a new consultant who said "oh you had a large tumour" - I had been aware of neck lump for months before going to GP & finding out it was cancer. Just telling you this to reassure you that a delay doesn't mean a worse outcome - I'm now 3 years all clear

  • Thank you, so reassuring and very pleased for you

  • We now have a surgery date of 28 Jan. focussing on trying to enjoy our relative normality for the next few weeks before we enter the surgery and then RT cycle. Thanks for all here

  • I'm so pleased you now have a date for your surgery. Like you, I kept myself busy rather than thinking about the treatment . Wishing you all the best. I hope everything goes well on the 28th. Take care.
