Probably a daft question, but as my mind started racing today I thought I'd ask in here if anybody else has any similar experience (in advance I should say I've phoned my dentist and managed to get an emergency appointment for 9:30 tomorrow).
Been doing great for a few weeks now - I'm 15 months post treatment. However, last couple of days it's felt like my jaw has tightened up a bit and today I noticed a very small lump between the teeth nearest where I had my extractions pre treatment.
Anybody had similar symptoms and what did they turn out to be ? I know we get anxious at every little thing, perfectly natural I guess, but this is really freaking me out today
Hi, great that you have an appointment so quickly.
Just to try to put your mind at rest the chances of ORN in the first couple of years are slim and then only if you have had teeth out after treatment, so try to relax...I know it's hard.
I was advised by my team to contact my CNS if I had any issues...not my GP or my dentist. I did get seen once out of sequence by my oncologist and he assured me it was no problem for them at all. They are used to false alarms in the first couple of years when our anxiety is at its highest.
Fingers crossed it's nothing but if your dentist can't allay your fears get back to the hospital.

Oh...and I had a small lump appear on my gum about a year out. It turned into a tiny spiky bit which then popped out a tiny bit of bone and that was it

Thanks Dani, really appreciate the quick reply.
I'll probably phone my MacMillan team tomorrow after the dentist anyway as they've been excellent so far.
Hope you're still doing well
All good here thanks.

Hi I had something very similar around the 2 year mark my dentist immediately referred me to max fax she took a photo and sent it. I had a feeling it was food related ( a sharp corner of a ryvita) but never the less I got referred and seen by the time I was seen there was nothing to see but as they said they would sooner see us than not. I did get a full 360 dental x ray as well which was reassuring.
fingers x it’s nothing. Mine was a fluke I was due ti be seen that day by dentist. So now no crackers in the week before appointments. !!

Thanks to you both for your replies, even before today's appointment they'd started to put my mind at rest.
Weirdly the 'lump' seemed to almost vanish overnight although my mouth was incredibly dry this morning. Went along to dentist and he said everything looks good considering what my mouth's been through. Gums are slightly swollen, but took an x-ray and no concerns.
£22.86 is a good price though for peace of mind !
Thanks again x
That’s good news. These things will occasionally rear their ugly heads. I have a three week rule that has served me well. I give something new three weeks to fix itself.

I had the same, gum never really healed where they'd yanked (literally) my back teeth out prior to treatment and kept catching my tongue on something sharp well after a year later. Told consultant, got referred to maxillofacial dept who said it could be necrosis but before I got 2nd appointment a piece of tooth came out on its own and gum healed in a week.
Good news like Dani says the 3 week rules a pretry good one to follow. Mine just happened night before dentist hence the I’m not waiting comment from my dentist.
Even at 7 years I’m still prone to the odd ulcer on gum or tongue none last longer than 2 weeks A blob of bonjela or aloclair does the trick. Tomatoes are one if my main triggers but am not giving them up! I grew a lot of different varieties I tend to find the big marinade Ines work for me eating wise.
