  • Hi I use factor 50 every day of the year on my neck and face I’ve never heard of it being prescribed. I tend to get whatever is on offer from the chemist or supermarket as long as it’s got UVA and UV B protection you’re fine.

  • Hi Beau Chapeau

Hope you are doing well. I also can’t imagine the NHS would provide sunscreen  I was advised to use this by my Dermatolgist( as I also had a skin cancer 5 years ago on nose .I also use sunscreen recommended for children on rest of body or Garnier Amber soldier Hydra 24 Protect factor 30 or 50 about £5-6 Superdrug also feels nice .

La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid Non-Perfumed Suncream SPF50+ 50ml £16 at Boots( only small)or La RochePosey anthelios dermo paediatrics invisible spray SPF 50+ 200ml £17 Boots

( sorry copied so can’t make it smaller)

Asda Protect Kids SPF 50+ spray sun lotion: £4, also decent.

  • Yes its about 10 years or more back - but it is normally for photosensitivity and after dermatology care.

It has been a few years since I was prescribed and it was during hospital treatments for de sensitivity treatment.

    Look at https://www.hweclinicalguidance.nhs.uk/prescribing-guidance/sunscreens/

    See under iten ! rationale

    Hope it helps.

  • I'm going to ask at my next oncology meeting..

    Loz (61)

Oropharyngeal right tongue base T2N2bM0 squamous cell carcinoma p16 positive..

  • Hi Loz

Please Let me know how you get on I have no chance already take daily aciclivor for cold sores and had a stage 2 skin cancer plus loads of other suspected ones removed but my trust won’t prescribe Joy

    Debbie

  • Let us know. I rather suspect that you'll be refused unless you've had skin cancer anyway but while you are there ask for Debbie? Would sunscreen be prescribed if you had a few BCCs removed from your face already?
