Hi lovely people. Husband is about 6 weeks post op. hemimandibulectomy with flap. Recovering well.

However. (Isnt there always?) the results of the bone biopsy have been delayed and an appointment was made for 3 weeks away in the hope results would be in by then.

This morning, phonecall bringing the appointment forward to this Monday as results are back.

Now I am stressing that they have found something in the biopsy and need to see him quickly.

Some people tell me it could just be a cancellation or they want us to know asap that it is clear.

I can’t help thinking it is bad news.

Any thoughts?

Sue

  • Sue, I suspect it’s just a freed up appointment and made by admin staff

My PET showed a hotspot. I was on 6 week check ups then and it was made on the assumption it might be through by my next check up. However I got offered one the following week. I wasn’t seen till my routine appointment even though the team had the results for five weeks prior. So don’t read anything into the timing.

  • Hi, Sue, it's probably just that they have the results now, and want to let you know, instead of waiting the 3 weeks. Unfortunately, when things change, we always thing the worst, but it mostly turns out to be alright. Try not to worry.

  • Good evening Sue, i agree with Ray and Dani that they have got the results back earlier than expected so are able to offer an earlier appointment so they can explain what they have or have not found in the biopsy. Wishing you andyour husband all the best for Monday, take care.
