Good morning everyone xxx
I wonder if anyone can give me a heads up on recovery from TORS procedure..I had neck dissection at the same.time. .
Pain started to kick in on 6th day, now into my 8th day and it seems to be getting worse. Even water stings to swallow,. I had the neck dissection left side ( scc lymph node, searching for primary) but the most pain is on my right side, throat obviously.. but ear pain, tooth pain, can feel my facial bones hurting.
We did expect this, so not afraid really..but increasingly difficult to eat snd drink. Been eating scratchy foods as instructed, but looking at a slice of crusty bread now gives me butterflies !!
Hope everyone feeling positive ! Tips...experiences and support here very welcome
Love

Hi Liz
I can't advise on the detail of the TORS as they abandoned mine (see profile - searching for primary!). I have had 2 neck dissections and 2 tonsillectomies. I suspect the dissection is really not worrying you at all in the grand scheme of things. It will be your throat. Based on the tonsillectomies I did learn that all the nerves in that part of the neck are interlinked so describing the associated pain does not surprise me. I had earache with the tonsillectomies.
I suspect that you are at the healing stage which is why the pain is feeling worse. Possible another 4 or 5 days and it may well start to die down as the flesh knits back together more solidly. Hopefully that will make eating easier. It is certainly the path my pain took.
Try to keep on top of the painkillers. I spread mine out so that I was taking something about every 3 hours. I found paracetamol worked really well for me and if I took it 30 minutes before I wanted to eat it eased things considerably. Don't be afraid to ask for something stronger if what you are on is not doing the job.
Peter x hello and thank you
What you said makes absolute sense to me. Thank you for the assurance x its basically what I need. Scary times, the mind plays havoc doesn't it?
I am going everything the medical teams instruct. All the meds they prescribed I'm taking. Waiting and praying game.
Thank you , again for your kindness, and I want to say beat of everything eith the healing of your condition
Love
Liz
