Morning all
I’ve woken this morning with a sore throat!
I’m due to have surgery to have PEG surgery on Tuesday, will they postpone and put everything on hold?
Not sure I can mentally deal with that…
Anyone know what, if anything, will happen please?
Have you difflam ? Try spraying that or grind the chemist that open nearest to you if you can get some. Take paracetamol as well . Gargle with salt water and baking powder in the meantime. It’s always the weekends or lije today Easter Sunday.

Dose yourself up with paracetamol and don’t tell the doctors. If your temperature is ok I doubt they will abandon the procedure anyway.

The PEG process is simple and can barely be classed as surgery - certainly not what you see on TV. You only get sedated, not knocked out. As long as they can get the endoscope down your throat and you don't have difficulty breathing then I don't think they will worry about it. They will place PEGs after radiotherapy has started and by that stage most people will have sore throat so they are used to it.
I've had throat surgery with a cold in the past and they managed that perfectly well. You'll be fine.
Good evening, maybe its because you worrying about having the PEG and treatment, its surprising what stress and anxiety can do, as long as your blood pressure, temprature, and sats are ok you will be ok, as Dani said dont mention it as having the PEG fitted will not be effected by a sore throat. Good luck for Tuesday.

Hi yuggyp
I had PEG procedure done in Ninewells Dundee....sedated....felt nothing until it was over...slight tightness....then 5 days of moderate muscle pain...well controlled by pain meds.
Kept in overnight for observation....would not think that they would postpone due to a sore throat.
I had Hernia repair done post CRT ....throat still raw from Radio treatment....they intubated me for surgery!..
