I am in week 5 of 6.5 weeks of radiotherapy targeting bottom lip and chin area following 2 surgeries removing squamous cell carcinomas and lip reconstruction.
So far, I have been coping ok and still eating normally (which they didn't expect) but now my skin around lip/chin area is very red, dry and sore from RT and its quite getting painful. I'm also concerned about it getting worse and infected. I have quite a long scar across chin from surgery in May and that seems particularly affected.
I will talk to oncology team but just wondered if anyone had any recommendations for anything they found helped?
I have Psoriasis and very sensitive skin so am very careful about products I use ordinarily and oncologist originally said to use what works for me. At moment I am using cream cleanser, gel and moisturiser from the Body Shop Aloe range and E45 Face Moisturiser. I also use Lindi Skin Cooler pads which I got via the Cancer Research online shop.
All these were helpful and worked but I think I now need something more hardcore!
Any suggestions gratefully received!
without a doubt.. it's priceless to be able to get advice, etc from people who know exactly what we're going through..
Thank you so much..

also, I regularly use an olive oil soap (Sodium Olivate (saponified olive oil), water, Sodium Chloride) that shouldn't cause me any problems with treatment should it?

No. That sounds ok. Just be prepared to change it if you get irritated. I used body shop shower gel which never bothered me though I guess unscented stuff is better.

Hey Groundhog. I have psorasis too. I had 35 RT to the neck and have no burning at all. Immediately after I came out of the session I would apply pure aloe gel and aqueos cream. Then e45 before bed.Hope that helps
