Hi
I had my operation, 11 days ago, I’m still in hospital, but being discharged today ( yayyyy)
it’s been hard going especially on the pain and eating side.
I can still only eat foods that are of soup consistency, yogurts, custard, so has anyone any ideas what I can eat at home that might give me some energy and be slightly enjoyable.
Thank you

Hi
With milkshakes i made my own. I get frozen / fresh fruit, add a big dollop of vanilla ice cream and full fat milk. So much nicer than bought ones... Don't use pineapple though as it curdles the milk, i found out the hard way !!
Although it's yoghurt again, the Activia thick and creamy yoghurts are lovely. Also angel delight, not sure how much energy they will give you but they're nice !

Think cream custards trifles eggs. Slow cooker is still my best friend. Lamb is easiest meat for me chicken thighs breasts too dry even with gravies.

Hi Caroline
i could only eat soup consistency food when I left hospital after my operation too - anything thicker got stuck in my mouth. I bought some ready cooked chicken, liquidised it and added it to soups. You could do the same with other proteins like tinned chick peas. I also found Ready Brek easier to eat than porridge at first. If you add fruit purees it makes it even easier to eat.
This period didn’t last long - after about a week I was gradually able to eat more solid food.
Hi. I think we all have had that fear. It is a slow, frustrating process getting back to eating but it will happen. It’s a mental battle too. I lived on v v soggy weetabix with sugar & whole milk for quite a while.
I used a nutribullet to puree veg etc and eventually protein
Oooowww thank you
yes porridge is difficult, I put it in blender with banana and lots of milk this morning but ready break sounds much better idea
good to hear this passes cos right now I feel very low and feels never ending
Thank you
