My husband's cancer has sadly returned despite major surgery and extensive radiotherapy this year. The team are exploring options for further treatment including immunotherapy if suitable or possible chemotherapy but have said survival is expected at between months and a small number of years. How do we go on with this diagnosis? It is so difficult to remain very positive..
I am so sorry to hear this Gingernut. I remember when you first posted earlier this year. After all we go through to hear that it hasn’t worked is soul destroying.
I know it’s emotionally devastating but you have to be practical too and look after yourself.
I would ask the consultant if your husband is eligible for any trials. I know the Marsden is running trials with Liverpool? Into immunotherapy and a therapeutic vaccine as an example.
Macmillan have a group for people supporting somebody with incurable cancer. You might find that useful too

I wish I could be more helpful so I’ll send you a hug at least

Good evening Gingernut, so sorry to hear this news, I know what it's like when cancer returns thankfully I was given the option of further surgery. It's great to hear his team are looking for other options as I know there are new treatment/trials happening all the time so fingers crossed for you and your husband. Wishing you all the best, take care.
Hugs Chris xx
I am so sorry to hear the news. After everything this really must hurt. I and my wife totally understand what you are going through as mine "returned" after 15 months. However, I am fortunate and am in a good place. All I can say is wishing you all the best and as much luck with the treatment as you can possibly have.
Hi Mandrew. I see this is you’re first post so I can at least say Hi and welcome.
it might be useful if you could let us know little more about yourself so that we can help you better.
Peter’s case is unusual. His primary cancer has never really been found or should I say found then lost
If you click on his name it will take you to his profile where there is a description of his journey so far.
Best wishes
Dani
