Hi Everyone, My name is Dawn, I used to come on here years ago. When my partner got diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer, and eventually got radiotheraphy treatment for it. And with  all the ups and downs of the cancer diagnoses and treatment etc. You helps us loads. bless you. As you understood how we both felt etc.

The point is, iam back on now, is  he has been suffering, from a really dry throat the last 2 months more so around the front of his throat I gather. And a feelings of wanting to clear his throat at times. And also at when eating sometimes feelings, he might choke. He is scared to go to hospital in general due to his phobia, and with covid about, making him much worse on top. To not go.  As he is social phobic in general.

He is not in pain and can eat slowly with lots of gravy, on his food. He is worried sick his cancer has come back. Has any one got an idea what is going on?

Also his local GP has retired after 30 years, that he trusted and could talk to in November just gone. And to get him to go to  his local surgery now is even harder.

I would really appricate anyone's advice or help regards above. As iam worried myself to say the least with thanks. Dawn.

  • HI RadioactiveRaz, thank you for your reply, sorry to hear about your cyst so glad it's benign. Will do will try phone ent and see how we get on. Keep in touch regards yourself. With thanks Dawn

  • Hi Aprilrain. Do contact the hospital but it might just be silent reflux A lot of us HNC patients get it and are in medication for it.
    Good luck.

  • Hi Dawn thank you I’m fine the consultant isn’t concerned, it’s a blocked saliva gland that’s caused it just one if the side effects of our treatment. It doesn’t bother me. Please let us know how he gets on be persistent he needs to be seen by a consultant.

  • HI Beesuit, he was given omeprazel for that to take  But stopped it due to his problems as it was not helping him... But made him feel worse. But thank you for info. Dawn

  • HI RadioactiveRaz, glad it's minor and consultant surgeon is not worried about it. Thinking of you. Dawnx

  • Good evening Dawn, i also remember you and your husband initial post, so sorry to hear about your husband phobia. I would advise you to get a face to face appointment with his consultant, I know we are in difficult times with covid but seeing his consult will put his mind at ease and investigate the symptoms he is having especially with his history. The sooner he is seen the better it will be, maybe his Dr can ask for a speedy appointment. Hopefully, it's nothing to worry about as I have many false alarms but felt a lot better once I was seen. Wishing you both all the best. Take care.

  • HI Chris2012, thank you for your reply, I agree hopefully face to face with consultant at Ent would be great. But his phobia is really bad and worse with covid now. He has started to gargle with salt water a few times daily now says he feels a bit better and his ear had popped as was a bit deaf. Think he is trying to build himself up to eventually if he can get seen, fingers crossed he will go. But with way he is in general not easy for him to deal with hospitals etc. No matter the fear of his own health too.

Do hope Chris, you are well. Best wishes for 2022 Dawnx

  • Did you manage to get through to anyone at the hospital today Dawn?

  • Good evening Dawn, i understand your husbands feelings and that he continues to feel better with the gargling, sometimes it can be something simple. I once was convinced my cancer had returned again after my third operation as it had the telltale symptoms even my consultant was concerned so he sent me for an x-ray and it turned out i had two teeth that were playing up, it was a big weight off my mind but my consultant said any slight changes should be looked into but we are all different and all have different anxieties. Im all good thanks and hoping this year is easier for us all with this Covid. Wishing you all the best.
