As per the heading, a bit random, but has anyone who has had a diagnosis of an HPV related cancer had any problems with long term skin rashes, eg granuloma annulare.
I have suffered with this for many years, not badly but it's there. When I was researching it myself I saw a link with the HPV virus. Following my treatment and chemo, a particular patch seemed to fade, I wondered if it had been eradicated. I have noticed now however a couple of small patches coming back. It is bothering me a little, a little reminder that the virus is still there perhaps??
Just wondering if anyone else knows anything of this??
Julie don’t conflate the two. Leave Google alone. I think you’re googling yourself into a corner. It’s natural to be worried about recurrence and it’s something we have to live with. It does ease. I promise.

Julie. I was at the consultants' twice in the first year with something that wasn't cancer and just recently again. It's right to keep an eye on things but don't over do it

Hi Can you please help me. I went for a smear in Nov, found out in Jan that I have mild hpv. I've been with my husband for 14 years - I've had 2 clear pap smears beforehand. We are a committed couple, do everything together - so how did I get this. Started to notice rashes on my legs - not normal. Went to doctors he said it was grannuloma annular. I've no symptoms of hpv e.g. warts - what am I going to do. Booked in for colposcopy this month. Have constant pain in my neck- throbbing and sore head. Thought I was imaging it. It's ruining my life and marriage
Hi lemon. You can harbour HPV for 30/40 years. Everybody gets the virus and most of us shrug it off. Your doctor should have explained this. It’s nothing to do with being unfaithful

For heavens sake. He needs reporting. It’s not true. I know you haven’t got a cancer diagnosis but give the Macmillan helpline a ring. The number is at the bottom of this post. You can talk to somebody there. Let me know how you get on.

Saw this in my email notifications and had to log in to emphasise most have been exposed to HPV at some point (this may be changing with vaccination). I think the figure i was given was 80% of people.
Dani already covered it but having HPV does not insinuate your partner has been unfaithful at all, either one of you may have been carrying but symptomless (suppressed) for decades.
Hi Lemon sorry you’ve had such a terrible response from drs . I had h p v tonsil cancer like Dani says it can lurk in your body for over 40 years before showing up. My hubby and I have been together over 40 years we joke that we’ve been passing it to each other. Stats show that at least 80% of the world is infected with h p v at some point just the u lucky ones who don’t get rid of it naturally.
Hope this helps

Hi Lemon
I was mortified when I read your post - I'm so sorry your GP has left you feeling like this. I don't know what I'm more outraged about - a medical professional being so ill informed about HPV or the way he's left you feeling!
As has been said, most of the population have HPV at some point in their life and can harbour it for decades. There are no symptoms and most people shake it off and are none the wiser.
There is still a lot of research into the transmission of HPV and there is evidence to suggest it's not just transmitted by sexual intimacy.
Please don't let the GP's mistaken thoughts and ill advised words ruin your life and marriage.
All the best.
