Hi
I started treatment yesterday. 1st RT dose and first Cisplatin.
I was given steroids and anti sickness drugs intravenously yesterday. In addition I have taken Dexamethasone, Granisetron and Domperidone today and I have still been sick and feel really sick. How long does the sickness ordinarily last after receiving the Cisplatin. Is there anything else left to take? Any recommendations?
Thanks

Horrible feeling and being sick. I hope it passes really quickly. However as the anti-sickness meds are clearly not working for you, it is really important to let your team know. They should be able to change/add to your drugs so that you don’t feel sick. I was very sick after my 1st chemo and was totally unable to eat for 3-4 days, losing 1/2 stone. The Oncologist, when informed, changed my steroid medication (I was already on maximum anti-sickness pills) and it made all the difference. If I had been very sick again I was told I would have been admitted to have the anti-sickness drugs intravenously. But this wasn’t necessary. So there are solutions....
Please talk to your team and get things changed for next time - I’m sure they will be very supportive. All the best for the next few days and the remaining chemos

Thank you. I sent my nurse an email yesterday evening as I really can't keep anything down. No vomiting in the night thankfully. Hopefully they'll give me something else today.
Hi J
I am 6 weeks post treatment now but I had 30 doses of RT and 4 doses of Cisplatin (couldn’t manage my 5th dose as ended up having injections as my white blood count was too low).
I had nausea too, my consultant swapped my anti sickness meds to a super pill. I just needed to take 1 a week and hour before chemo. It was a game changer for me but typically I can’t remember what it was called. I am sure your consultant will know though.
Good luck to you going through your journey. It’s not easy but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I still have a way to go but I have definitely turned the corner
Thanks

Just about to get discharged and feel a lot better. They're not really sure why I was so sick. I have been given some different antisickness meds. Managed some mash and an ice lolly. Mainly using my peg. It's a tough old road. I have some much respect for all of you on here that have gone through this treatment
I was very sick after 1st dose of Cisplatin. Ended up in hospital for 3 days to regulate sodium phosphate and potassium levels. Have had 2 more trmts. Changed to weekly dose at reduced strength. I will still end up getting needed chemo dose. Am doing terrific. 2 more chemo treatments and done with that. 10 more radiation. Looking forward to being able to tolerate food. remain on feeding tube. Anticipate it will be another 6 wks or so. Hope you feel better.
Thanks Pianoplayer. Stories like that definitely give me hope x
