Hi.

Quick question.

I'm now 6months post treatment for tonsil cancer.  Chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

I still feel that something is stuck in my throat and wondering if this is part of the healing in the area.

  • Hi

I am just short of 6 months post for suspected tonsil cancer (no primary found) and my consultant told me that it would take a year to two for surgery and RT swelling to go down and get to a new norm. So it is possible yes. I do sometimes feel like I am swallowing passed a small lump. I missed my last appt as only by telephone which is sad as it is good to know they see nothing new. I am just going along the lines of if nothing feels any different to last week, then it should be ok. But, on my telephone call, consultant did say if I was worried, to contact my Mac nurse, perhaps you can too.

    Hi.

It sounds as if I'm being paranoid . I've spoken with cns and my appointment next week was going to be a phone call but been told to go in just in case.  Fingers crossed but my anxiety is through the roof now.

Ive also noticed a small white bump on the side of my tongue right back at my tonsil which disappears when I brush my teeth.

Hopefully nothing fingers crossed until next week

  • HI it could be a patch if oral thrush by your tongue if your going in get it looked at I am 20 month post radiotherapy for tonsil cancer with several affected lymph nodes .The feeling in your throat are normal it’s the radiotherapy thatsbtaken it’s toll but getting it checked by professionals won’t hurt ,like the experts are saying the n h s is still in business and wouldn’t want yiu sitting there worrying after you’ve come this far.

  • I only had the surgery, but I recognise the sensation.   My throat feels more sensitive and I've noticed over the past few weeks more so.  At the moment I'm putting it down to an increase in allergens irritating the throat where the surgery was - I always had an "itchy" throat at this time of year.  However, I do have a "check-up" by phone in 2 weeks time so I'll mention it then; just to be safe.
