  • Hi Belinda

    everybody recovers at different rates

I wasn’t comfortable with food till 12 weeks and even then it was a struggle.
Small steps all the way will get him there. Plenty of rest but some gentle exercise is on the cards

Dont fight with too high an expectation

Try different foods in small amounts. He’ll get there.

  • Hi Belinda and welcome to the forum.

I have to agree with Dani.  We all recover at different rates and it is still very early days for your husband.

He will still be suffering with fatigue from the treatment plus a lack of energy with not eating so resting and sleeping is important but also a good idea to try and get some fresh air leading to some gentle exercise.

It can be a long slow road to recovery but he will get there.

    All the best.

  • Hi Belinda, it looks as if he has got over the first hurdle with the chemo and radiotherapy, he will only honestly feel better when he starts to get the food supplement shakes into his body through his peg/rig, roughly about 6 to 8 a day. He must space them so he is not having too many at a time as this can overfill his stomach which can cause sickness. The stomach does shrink when it's not being used normally i,e fish and chips, roast etc so it has to be built up slowly. The more he perseveres with his shakes and the peg the quicker he will feel stronger and better and un turn playing with the children. He will get there Belinda , wishing you all the very best and a full recovery to your partner, take care. P.S Please contact his dietitian if he is still struggling.
