Hi Everyone you all know me by now so thought time for some good news for all those about to start are in treatment or waiting to start.

Salvia well now at 20 months post treatment and am pleased to say I am now 95% normal in the day time  ok it’s been a long haul. Did the acupuncture help I would like to think so .night time I still use 1/2 xyimelts as I do dry up read somewhere that we 0400 is the time when saliva glands stop for a while so hence my dryness in night I guess.

Eating again not a 100% but some  meat is probably always going to be difficult.A good bacon sandwich is a step too far pork unless s  fatty difficult mince is getting there casseroles umm some days yes some days no. Spicy food not in my delicate mouth thank you. I didnt really drink and next month will be my 2 year anniversary of my last gin n tonic not even thought about trying it although I dipped my tongue into johns red wine other week ummm no.

Chocolate  no problem I love my chocolate but in moderation  and plain crisps no longer takes 45 mins to eat .

weight wise am back to just less than pre cancer weight but body shape different I can get in jeans from 10 years ago weird but true.

Anyway hope this gives hope to all of you and onwards and upwards as always.

  • Thanks, Hazel.

I am near the beginning; week 4 of 7 tomorrow.

I am already relying on the PEG feeds. Cannot bear the amount of mucous I am spitting up! Mouth tastes ghastly. Food tastes of either metal or boiled cardboard and I can’t manage solids anyway, because of the pain. I cannot wait to be eating again!

  • Hi no problem,

just concentrate on getting through treatment, food will happen further down the line ,Ok for many to start with it’s not a pleasure but you just need to keep end goal in sight. I know can eat mostChocolate barhing in my case think salad will always be difficult even with mayonnaise but I can eat chocolate !!

Funny that you should mention 0400am, that is exactly the time i wake up every night desperate for a drink. Apart from that, all pretty much back to normal , apart from keeping clear of anything with chilli in it. (4 years post treatment )

    Russ

  • Hi Russ Like you can’t see chilli ever passing my mouth again uses o enjoy a good chilli still grow them in greenhouse but give them away ,poor hubby making him suffer as well lol Yes must be the saliva glands like I read
