The procedure was stopped as my blockage would not allow the camera any further, it went down 29cm from the incisors and the report says malignant appearing stricture. He has told me to go on liquids due to this and swallowing problems. I awaiting further info, has anyone else had a blockage like this. What happens next ? Obviously this is a big shock and I am bit nervy to say the least.
Hi Albert, I just got back from my endoscopy and had exactly the same outcome. They found a tumor in my lower oesophagus and have taken 4 biopsies. I can imagine how you feel as this is a really big shock. Waiting for the next steps to take place. If you want to connect or exchange, please let me know. All the best for you.
Hi Carson, sad news indeed. Welcome to the forum. I have just had surgery to remove my tumor. While each case is different you might get some insight as to what lies ahead by reading my diary. Just click on my profile name and you will be able to see my journey do far. Hope it helps a little.
Best regards
Geo.
That was me in March last year. Confirmed as Adenocarcinoma from the biopsy. I then had a CT scan and then a small laparoscopy operation where they went in through my stomach wall to get a look underneath.. Apparently they did actually manage to get an endoscope for children down past the tumour while I was out. This was part of the preparation to see if it was curable. Followed by a PET scan to see if the cancer had spread. No spread detected so I had a fitness test where I was wired up and had to ride an exercise bike. I passed that.
Finally I got the answer that yes they were going to put me through chemotherapy and surgery. Operated on in September last year and now back to an active and happy life.
Hello Albert, not yet - I just got back home and the shock diagnosis came at 10 am this morning. The doc doing the endoscopy called me this afternoon and hopes we caught it early. But no results just yet, no scope, and no stage just yet. It all feels very surreal, but I‘m coping better than I thought I would. Let‘s see how the next few days go.
Sending you loads of strength and good vibes.
Sorry to hear your news, it sounds like you are on a similar journey to my dad who was diagnosed In August after the camera wouldn’t go any further ️
Hopeful you will be seen as quickly as he was, with CT scan, PET scan and appointments with consultants all done and everything confirmed within 2 weeks from the camera.
He had his first Chemo today after a few hiccups along the way but everything crossed this is the start of easing the symptoms.
Thanks for reply Chollylops, got a phone call yesterday from clinical nurse, a few comforting words which really helped, she also ask why I was on liquids, the doctor at Endoscopy advised. On her advice I am back on soft foods, for the moment. Like with everyone I am struggling with the wait for results. Just read your profile, please keep us informed with your dads progress.
all the very best and good luck
