Hi I am new to this forum tbh its the first time in the past 6 months I have felt strong enough.

After delayed annual checking of my barretts I finally had my camera and biopsies the bad news came they found tumours I have had 4 surgeries and very time i go back they find more. i dont know if this is normal or not I feel in such limbo. i also cannot eat anything other than weetabix mash and porridge which is having an impact on my other health issues. if anyone has any advice it would be gratefully received. sorry if this is a rambling post as i said its my first

  • Angel sorry to hear about your situation. I had a lot of issues with eating have a read of my profile where I have explained everything I have learnt. My first recommendation thiugh if you are struggling to get calories in would be to speak to your doctor who can prescribe you protien drinks which are great for giving your body the calories you need. Then maybe get a juicer to get lots of good vitamins in you. I hardly ate veg before and now it's a huge part of my diet and I feel good for it.

  • Hello Angel

Welcome to the forum, you have been great at taking the first steps to communicating with others that either have a similar condition to you, or to loved ones of a person with OC.

It is obviously going to be extremely difficult, especially when you undergoing so many different surgeries and finding more tumours.

This link here goes back several years, and contains recipes others were using whilst undergoing treatment...  but as Vinny has said, the protein drinks from the GP is the first place to start, they will help you get some energy back.

I am sorry to read that you are going through all of this, but please don't ever feel that anything that you post is rambling, we are here for you, and I hope that you will find some help , guidance or support .. remember also that the Macmillan team are at the other end of the phone (number in my signature) they are extremely helpful and may have other suggestions for you.

    Good Luck

  • Thanks Vinny that's what I have been doing mushy veg things like that I didn't think about contacting my gp i will do that when they open again after the holidays.

    Thanks again

  • Thanks Lowedal

I will go through and see if I can find any more info.I think I was just worried it sounded like I am moaning but tbh the past six months have involved at least 2 hospital visits a week and i have been putting my game face on for my husband and kids but with the little break for Christmas it all seems to be hitting me at once so thank you for your kindness and understanding you don't know how much it meant to me but it was a lot.

  • The ones I really like are called fresubin they are actually delicious 3 in a day is 1200 calories. I don't know if you have issues with cold sensitivity with your treatment, but I find eating frozen soft foods a lot easier. Getting a juicer is great too a simple juice of carrots, apples, celery and cucumber is easy on your stomach and gives you a lot of great nutrients (this comes from someone who used to kick off about lettuce)

Never worry about moaning we have a lot to moan about and we are all hear to support eachother. I'm sure there are people in here who have similar problems who fan help.
