Hi all,
Looking for advice and generally hearing from others experiences.
My husband has had his 4 rounds of FLOT which generally went ok.
Before the chemo he was just about fit enough to have surgery but I'm worried he might not be now. He has the assessment in a few days and then we're meeting with the surgeon to discuss.
We haven't really spoken much about the non surgery options so if this is the result I'm not sure whether he'll feel disappointed and like it's not going to be curable. Have others experienced this and how did you cope and support? What were the things you found most helpful to ask the surgeon?
Thanks in advance
Hi. I noticed your post has not been answered. There are lots of people on this site who have had non surgical curative routes so your husband should not be pinning all his hopes just on surgery. I think you need to wait until you have the results of the next meeting with the surgeon and I am sure you will get advice from people who have followed a non surgical route if that is the way things proceed. I myself have had surgery and am now almost 3 years post initial diagnosis so that is the route I can help you navigate in terms of non medical advice. If you are not happy with your surgeons view you can of course seek a second opinion and again many on this site have done this successfully. I can't think of any specific questions for your meeting but if you come away and then find you have follow up questions then I am sure your GI contact nurse will give you lots of support. I can only say mine has been brilliant in so doing. I hope things go well for you both.
Thank you for your reply, it's so good to hear and nice to hear from someone directly.
There does seem to be so much waiting for tests/results/appointments and when w know more in a couple of weeks will have a look at previous discussions to also find out more.
Thanks again
