Good morning my husband has recently been diagnosed with GOJ cancer and has this week started his FLOT treatment plan with a view to surgery once chemo is complete.  He has taken to his first round of Chemo quite well so far but is having bouts of severe...

  • Hi

I saw your post had not had any replies and did not want you to think it had been noticed. Your husbands cancer is outside my experience since my wife has Leiomyosarcoma but I do more often comment in both the Carers only forum and the Family and friends forum

However by replying I will boost your message back to the top of the list here so fingers crossed someone with more direct experience may see your message and reply.

  • Oh my thank you so much.  I really appreciate it.  Hope your wife is doing ok x

  • Hi Michelle,

Your post seems incomplete (bouts of severe what?) which is possibly why you have received no replies. Regards, CB

  • Hi Michelle

I imagine the severe bouts are toilet related, if so, this is not unusual on FLOT as far as other reports have shared.

I am sorry to read of this recent diagnosis, you both must be reeling, but it is good to read that treatment is underway with a view to surgery, so it sounds as if they have found it in time.

Thank you for coming onto the forum and sharing some of the start of your journey, there is a wealth of knowledge here, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

  • Thx for replies.  My husband has most of oesophagus removed along with part stomach end of November.  However mentally he hasn’t handled this whole experience well.  It’s been a huge struggle for him and now is complaining of a headache ongoing along with neck pain.  I am beside myself as he won’t go get checked out in case it delays surgery or worse no surgery at all.  I don’t know how to deal with him to be honest as he won’t budge!  Any advice? TIA

  • Hello Michelle, I wonder if counselling might help your husband to come to terms with his diagnosis. Even if he isn't open to this, it could help you to talk through your frustration, etc xxx
